Years ago when I was at uni I had an eBay account I used to sell old clothes on etc but then I completely abandoned it, standard Chlo. I’m desperate to get my hands on the first edition of Throne of Glass so I was scouring eBay looking for a copy (hello £100+) when I stumbled across a whole load of books. If you missed out on a fairyloot edition of a book, chances are someones got one for sale on eBay, I couldn’t believe it haha.
I’ll be honest I’ve never really thought about buying books on eBay, I’ve only ever really thought about buying special edition books rather than regular books but ya gal has limited funds for books so lets give this a go!
I’ve been wanting to read this book for so long, Anastasia is one of my favourite childhood films so naturally as I’ve gotten older and learnt more about the Romanov’s I just want to devour anything about them haha. Romanov by Nadine Brandes tells the story of Anastasia and..
The history books say I died. They don’t know the half of it. Anastasia “Nastya” Romanov was given a single mission: to smuggle an ancient spell into her suitcase on her way to exile in Siberia. It might be her family’s only salvation. But the leader of the Bolshevik army is after them and he’s hunted Romanov before.
Nastya’s only chances of saving herself and her family are either to release the spell and deal with the consequences, or to enlist help from Zash, the handsome soldier who doesn’t act like the average Bolshevik. Nastya’s only dabbled in magic, but it doesn’t frighten her half as much as her growing attraction for Zash. She likes him. She thinks he might even like her that is, until she’s on one side of a firing squad and he’s on the other.
This book has to be my best bargain ever, it cost me 99p! It’s a signed US first edition and it cost me less than a pound, incredible! There is a tiny tiny rip in the spine part of the dustcover but honestly it’s the kinda accidental damage you might do yourself and for 99p can you really complain? Nope!
One of the things about bookstagram is that it makes me really wish I’d read the Throne of Glass series when it first came out and the hype surrounding it. I’m pretty sure I only started reading TOG last year, I managed to catch the hype around Kingdom of Ash, I was lucky enough to see Sarah J Maas when she did an event in London last year for Kingdom of Ash, and I have a signed exclusive copy which is my pride and joy haha. Whilst I was doing my daily eBay browse I saw a Waterstones exclusive version of Tower of Dawn which included fan art of Aelin and Chaol for £1.99, I placed a bid and as I was the only bidder ya gal won! Tower of Dawn is all about Chaol’s journey to Antica, it’s also where Chaol meets Yrene!
Chaol Westfall has always defined himself by his unwavering loyalty, his strength, and his position as the Captain of the Guard. But all of that has changed since Aelin shattered the glass castle, since Chaol’s men were slaughtered, since the King of Adarlan spared him from a killing blow, but left his body broken. Now he and Nesryn sail for Antica – the stronghold of the southern continent’s mighty empire and of the legendary healers of the Torre Cesme. It’s Chaol’s one shot at recovery, and with war looming back home, Dorian and Aelin’s survival could depend on Chaol and Nesryn convincing Antica’s rulers to ally with them. But what they discover there will change them both – and be more vital to saving Erilea than they could have imagined.
The last book I bought off eBay was another book I’ve seen all over insta is The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson, this is the first book in the Mistborn trilogy and quite the chunky book so I probably won’t be reading it anytime soon. I paid £2.99 with free postage, now with this book I can definitely tell this is a well loved secondhand copy. Some of the pages are a little scrunched but I bought it off eBay so what can I say really haha.
I’m very happy with my books and I’ll definitely look on eBay for the books on my wishlist again. I know that you can hear all sorts of horrors stories about eBay etc but I feel very lucky with my buys and the prices are incredible, if you’re willing to spend a little bit of time looking I think you can pick up some real bargains. I will 100% use eBay to purchase books again, I’ll especially be on the lookout for special editions!
