Last month I set myself a target of reading six books, and I actually managed to read six books. In the last couple of months there’s been several new releases I’ve wanted to read so being realistic I decided to set a goal of four books. It’s now, at the time of writing this post, 26th November and so far I’ve managed to read one book on the list.
I thought by setting myself a target of four books (In theory, I should manage to read one book a week), I’d be able to hit my target without putting too much pressure on myself. Well, as you can see that clearly didn’t work out well lool.
At the risk of sounding like Carrie Bradshaw, I couldn’t help but wonder if creating these TBR lists and so publicly helps my reading goals at all, or are they just hindering my progress? Such a first world problem I know!
Looking at my November wrap up I didn’t do too badly, I read quite a few books actually. But my point remains, only one of these books was on my November TBR list. The other books were ones I’d picked up on a whim and enjoyed so much I managed to finish them in the month.
I didn’t consider myself a “whim” reader but now I’m thinking maybe I am? Who knows, I think I will still set myself some sort of reading goal for the month. There’s SO many books I want to read plus I still have my Goodreads challenge for the year!
This month I’ve decided to try and finish books that I’ve already started, I’m hoping this will be easier than starting a new book but we’ll see.
My goodreads challenge for the year is to be read 80 books, so far I’ve read 65, so I’m fairly optimistic I can read 15 or so in the 40 odd days left in the year. Whether I’ll make a set TBR list remains a mystery!
What do you guys think? Do you guys have monthly TBR lists? Let me know in the comments below!
